What Really Happens Beneath the Covers at a Literary Award?

Ever bought the latest Man Booker winner only to wonder what all the fuss was about?
Ever wondered what really happens behind the scenes of a literary prize?
And, now the Man Booker and the Baileys Prize have both lost their sponsors, are prizes in crisis?

Join the Authors’ Club and the NLC Literary Circle for an insight into what it’s like to win, judge, administer and set up a major literary award. Joining Suzi Feay, former administrator of the Authors’ Club Best First Novel Award, and veteran judge, are Andrew Kidd, founder of the Rathbones Folio prize for fiction; Juliet Mabey, publisher of two recent Man Booker winners (Paul Beatty and Marlon James); Paul Burston, founder of the Polari Prize; and Sunny Singh, Authors’ Club Chair and founder of the Jhalak Prize.

Welcome by Kate Birch, Co-Chair, NLC Literary Circle.

Tickets are £5, and must be booked in advance by e-mailing louisa@nlc.org.uk  or phoning the Events office. A cash bar will be available.
