National Liberal Club, 1 Whitehall Place, London
Our lunch guest Emma Darwin’s latest book is emphatically not about her celebrated great-great grandfather. Part memoir, part biography, and part book about creative writing and what really makes a novel, This Is Not A Book About Charles Darwin is the story of how a creative disaster came from ten generations of creative thinkers in the Darwin-Wedgwood family tree.
A longstanding friend of the Authors’ Club, Emma has written two bestselling historical novels, The Mathematics of Love (2006) and A Secret Alchemy (2008). Until recently an Associate Lecturer in Creative Writing with the Open University, Emma has taught writing workshops and courses rom Aberyswyth to Zurich, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.
The charge for the two-course lunch (starter, main course, coffee and chocolates) and a glass of club wine is £33 per person. To book, phone 020 7930 9871 or email email@example.com. Payment can be made by cheque, bank transfer or debit card.
