‘Utterly mesmerising’ – Deborah Moggach
Platform Seven at 4am: Peterborough railway station is deserted. The man crossing the covered walkway on this freezing November morning is confident he’s alone. What he doesn’t realise is that he has company. Lisa Evans knows what he is about to do as she tries and fails to stop him walking to the platform edge…
For our final lunch of 2019, we are delighted to welcome the novelist and guest adjudicator of this year’s Authors’ Club Best First Novel Award Louise Doughty, whose tense psychological thriller Platform Seven was published in August. Louise is the bestselling author of nine novels including Apple Tree Yard, adapted as a four-part BBC series starring Emily Watson, Black Water, nominated as one of the New York Times Notable Books of the Year, and the Costa-shortlisted Whatever You Love. Her debut Crazy Paving was shortlisted for the Authors’ Club Best First Novel Award in 1996. Her books have been translated into thirty languages.
The charge for the two-course lunch (starter, main course, coffee and chocolates) and a glass of club wine is £33 per person. To book, phone 020 7930 9871 or email firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday 6 December. Payment can be made by cheque, bank transfer or debit card.
