We are delighted to invite members and their guests to the Annual Literary Dinner with guest speaker, Kim Wagner.
Kim is the author of five acclaimed books of history, including the very timely Amritsar 1919: An Empire of Fear and the Making of a Massacre (Yale University Press), described as ‘the standard work’ on the topic by Nigel Collett, and ‘analytically sharp but gripping to read,’ and a ‘page-turner’ by Barbara D. Metcalf. His earlier books include The Skull of Alum Bheg: The Life and Death of a Rebel of 1857 and Thuggee: Banditry and the British in Early 19th Century India.
Kim is Professor of Global and Imperial History at Queen Mary University. He holds a Ph.D. in South Asian history from the University of Cambridge and has taught at Imperial College and the University of Birmingham. He was a Research Fellow at King’s College, Cambridge and Research Associate at the University of Edinburgh. He has also held a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Global Fellowship at George Washington University, DC.
The charge for the three-course dinner including a drinks reception and wine is £57 per person. To book, phone 020 7930 9871 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Payment can be made by cheque, bank transfer or debit card.
